A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle on Sunday evening in Saint-André-Avellin, in the Outaouais.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on rang Sainte-Julie Ouest.
According to initial information, “the pedestrian was walking on the edge of the white line which runs along the row, in the opposite direction, when the vehicle hit him,” said agent Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec ( SQ).
The victim was transported to a hospital where there are fears for his life.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on this event. “At first glance there does not seem to be a criminal element,” said the SQ.
