According to information from France Bleu, it was the aggression of young Corsican supporters by at least one Strasbourg supporter already spotted for his virulence which launched the hostilities. Shortly before the match, Alsatian supporters were then targeted by smoke bombs launched by ultras from the Corsican club.
At the exit of the stadium, the same Alsatian supporters were escorted by the police but continued to be targeted by projectiles and smoke bombs at the exit of the stadium. Fifteen cars were also damaged.
In a press release published this Sunday, the president of AC Ajaccio Alain Orsoni deplores the decision-making of the police forces: “At the end of the match, it is essential not to let the opposing supporters leave the stadium immediately” for “avoid possible incidents”, he explains. “Despite our requests, the police immediately released the supporters,” affirms Alain Orsoni.
According to testimonies collected by France Bleu RCFM, the police also used tear gas. There was no arrest, explains a police source to franceinfo.
