Power lines in the southern Ukrainian city, still occupied by the Russian army, were “damaged”, Sunday, November 6, after a Ukrainian strike, according to the Russian regional occupation authorities. The latter also accuse kyiv of being at the origin of shootings on the Kakhovka dam, one of the largest in the country. Massive power and water cuts in Kherson
The city of Kherson in southern Ukraine, still occupied by the Russian army, was “without electricity or water” on Sunday, following a Ukrainian strike, according to the Russian occupation authorities in the region. “Three concrete pylons carrying power lines were damaged on the Berislav-Kakhovka axis”they said on Telegram.
This is the first known power and water cut in Kherson. According to a representative of the region’s emergency services, quoted by Russian news agencies, “more than 10 localities in the region” are equally “without current”.
The hydroelectric dam from Kakhovka “damaged”
60 km as the crow flies from Kherson, the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam, under Russian control, was hit by another Ukrainian strike, again according to the Russian occupation authorities. According to Russian agencies, six missiles were launched, five were shot down by Russian anti-aircraft defenses and “one touched the sluice of the dam”.
The strikes, however, did not “did not cause critical damage” on this strategic infrastructure, one of the largest dams in the country, which notably supplies the annexed Crimea, according to the representative of the administration set up by Moscow in Nova Kakhovka, the village where the dam is located. The risk of strikes on this strategic infrastructure has been brandished since October by Ukraine and Russia, the two accusing each other of endangering the lives of “thousands” of inhabitants.

Asked Sunday on national public television, the mayor of kyiv asked the inhabitants of “make arrangements” in the event of widespread power and water cuts. “We are doing everything to prevent this from happening, but our enemies are doing everything to keep the capital without heat, without electricity and without water”, added Vitali Klitschko.
Of the “additional limitations” electricity had been introduced in several regions, the national operator Ukrenergo announced on Saturday. These “emergency interruptions” have touched “all categories of consumers” in several regions, including kyiv.
