Every weekend, toy fairs are organized in Touraine
and everywhere in France. This Sunday, at the multipurpose hall of Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, there were people for the toy market organized by the association Le Réveil Sportif de Saint-Cyr Basket. 25 exhibitors present all morning to sell toys, clothes or even board games.
It was Élise Guillaume who organized the toy fair. According to her, this kind of event works better and better. “The second-hand market is growing. Now there is no more taboo to buy and offer the second hand. Whether it’s for toys, books and clothes.”
Little kids grown up
In addition to toys, clothes and objects from early childhood are sold. Mélanie is a saleswoman, it’s the first time she’s taken part in an event like this. “I have two children already, so we had to make some space at home!” Sales for children work well, they grow quickly, renewal is done more often.
The grandmothers are also present. They come to resell the objects of small children who have become too big. Like Elizabeth,I sell some things I had in my cupboards and cheap because Christmas might be a bit more expensive this year.. It makes me happy to give these games back, they are unbreakable!“, she exclaims in front of a set of small wooden cars.
An economical Christmas
Because Christmas is coming. Weekends in November are good for shopping. And the toy exchanges are an opportunity not to ruin yourself too much. And that’s what Pascale does, “I come to spot some small toys for possibly Christmas. Board games, basically, it lasts six months__. So buy a new one eventually, it happens. But you might as well take second-hand games.”
For Anne, who has come to buy toys and clothes for her children, it is also the way to makecircular economy. “Frankly, buying new is not very interesting. Might as well buy second-hand. And then afterwards, put back in the circuit, what. In the loop.”
As the end of year celebrations approach, watch your calendars. Toy fairs are multiplying and are an opportunity to do good business.
