(Puerto La Cruz) Floods and landslides caused by heavy rains have killed at least 7 people in the coastal state of Anzoátegui, in eastern Venezuela, regional authorities announced on Friday.

Six bodies were located in the city of Puerto La Cruz, and another, that of a child, was found in the nearby town of Guanta, said state governor Luis Marcano.
Nearly 80 people have died in the country in recent weeks due to heavy rains that have hit the country, including 54 in a landslide that occurred on October 8 in Las Tejerías, a town in the state of Aragua ( north-central), according to official reports.
A thousand rescue workers, volunteers and civil servants were deployed in Anzoátegui.
