The Ontario Legislative Assembly officially passed the Ford government’s bill on Thursday afternoon to prevent education workers from striking. The use of the notwithstanding clause provokes the wrath of the country.

There are 74 elected officials who voted in favor of the bill, and 34 who opposed it.
“If the strike takes place on Friday, it will be illegal,” Education Minister Stephen Lecce warned Thursday, assuring that his government will use “all the tools” at its disposal to end the disruption.
