Hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 show a slight increase

Health authorities reported Wednesday a slight increase in hospitalizations, but a decrease in intensive care.

According to the latest report, 1,934 Quebecers with COVID-19 were hospitalized, including 627 who were treated specifically for the disease, 16 more than the day before.

A total of 45 people were in intensive care, including 26 with COVID-19. This represents a decrease of four compared to the last assessment.

More than 3,700 health professionals were still in withdrawal in connection with the disease.

The authorities have also recorded six new deaths, three of which have taken place in the last 24 hours. The other three deaths occurred two to seven days ago.

A total of 17,065 Quebecers have lost their lives to the disease since the start of the pandemic.

On the case side, 1028 new infections were recorded. However, this figure is not representative given that access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

The figures from the rapid tests provide a slightly more complete result. On Tuesday, Quebecers reported 153 tests, including 135 that turned out to be positive. In total, there are 305,541 rapid tests, including 256,832 positives.

According to the ministry’s dashboard, the positivity rate is 9%.

Vaccination picked up the slack on Tuesday, with 22,413 doses administered. A total of 21,897,070 vaccines were injected into Quebecers.
