When emergency services arrived at the scene, the driver of the car was unconscious and had serious head injuries. The young man was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
As for the driver of the truck, he got away unscathed.
The difficult weather conditions in this area early in the afternoon may have played a role in the loss of control.
A collision investigation specialist from the Sûreté du Québec was dispatched to the scene to try to establish the cause and the circumstances of the accident. As a result, a portion of Route 343 was temporarily closed to traffic.
