To compensate for the lack of employees in certain sectors, the government wants to call on foreign workers and create, for this, a special residence permit for these jobs in tension.
On a construction site of the future Olympic village, in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis)a boss faces a daily headache: find labour. In this Ile-de-France company alone, around fifty positions are to be filled. Every day there are undocumented workers who show up for work, but employing them is illegal.
So, for Stéphane Dupuis, general manager at Dubrac TPthe announcement of the Minister of the Interior is a relief. Gerald Darmanin wants to make it easier to hire undocumented migrants by creating a residence permit called “jobs in tension”. “The establishment of such a system by the government would be a great opportunity to facilitate their regularization quickly”explains Stéphane Dupuis. Construction is not the only sector in crisis. Personal services, health or crafts are also concerned. Last year, the baker Stéphane Ravacley aroused emotion by starting a hunger strike: he demanded the regularization of his apprentice, Laye Fode Traorea young Guinean threatened with deportation.
