Nicolas Bedos scrambled with Mélanie Laurent: “This ultra-gifted girl … whom I loved at all”

A very sensitive artist who has sometimes come close to the worst, Nicolas Bedos ensured the intimate exercise of the show As an aside on Canal + this November 1, 2022 as it should be: by making personal confidences, without taboos or false modesty. The director and screenwriter came on the show presented by Nathalie Levy to talk about his latest film with a dizzying cast (Pierre Niney, Isabelle Adjani, Marine Vacth and François Cluzet), Masquerade, but not only. He returned to his relationship with one of his peers, Mélanie Laurent.

In discussing the importance in his career of the play he wrote, Health Walkunveiled in 2010 and starring Mélanie Laurent, Nicolas Bedos said: “I owe this young woman a lot, a lot. Life has caused us to be more or less angry since then, but I owe a lot, a lot to this ultra-gifted, ultra-seductive girl, whom I simply loved, whom I loved as an artist. She moved mountains and she got me off a path that was straight towards drunkenness and self-deprecation and hopeless ‘son of’ worthlessness.

More than ten years ago, the son of the late Guy Bedos was not in the best of moods and he spoke about it openly in the pages of Miss Figaro. The one to whom we owe the Caesarized documentary tomorrow got it back”in a deplorable state in a fashionable nightclub“.”I’m ashamed to have loved so much a guy who became this“, she had said to him then, words that visibly marked him. In 2013 in the magazine She, he had made his own portrait of the young woman among those of other actresses he met. He watched her”sobbing every night, in her tiny dressing room, not to meet a single man who could love her for real – or even just ‘for real’.

Serenity found

About ten years later, the two artists seem to have found both professional and personal fulfillment, even if they are no longer close. Mélanie Laurent (39 years old) recently directed The Fools’ Ball and directed the Fanning sisters, Elle and Dakota, in The Nightingale, adaptation of the work of Kristin Hannah, soon on the screens. Mother of a son, Leo, born on September 30, 2013 and a daughter, Milla, born in 2019, she keeps the identity of the dads secret. Nicolas Bedos (43) is now in a relationship with Pauline, a lovely young woman who accompanied him to the Paris premiere of his feature film Masquerade last October 20.
