Since the beginning of October, “31 children were transported out of Ile-de-France”, due to the saturation of pediatric intensive care units in hospitals in the Ile-de-France region, the Minister of Health announced on Tuesday, November 1, after a visit to the Necker hospital in Paris. François Braun noted in particular in Ile-de-France “the most significant peak in terms of the bronchiolitis epidemic”.

A meeting is also scheduled for Wednesday between Francois Braun and “all pediatric professionals to work on the refoundation not only of the hospital as a whole, but also of the child health sector”. It will mainly focus on “the future of the pediatric sector”promised the Minister, specifying that he will meet “learned societies, personalities from pediatrics who work on this subject and all those who contributed to the Igas report” (General Inspectorate of Social Affairs).
More than 4,000 caregivers signed an open letter to the President of the Republic on Friday, to denounce the saturation of pediatric hospital services. The signatories mainly point to structural difficulties, due in their view to a “irresponsible political inaction”. “Hospitalization services are overflowingthey warn. It is urgent to be able to reopen beds in pediatric wards by stopping the flight of caregivers and by recruiting passionate young people.”
