“31 children transported outside Ile-de-France”, the epidemic is accelerating

The All Saints holidays, without school and therefore with less mixing, have so far given no respite to caregivers in medical offices and pediatric services in the Ile-de-France region… “31 children were transported out of Ile-de-France”, due to the saturation of pediatric intensive care units in hospitals in the region, announced this Tuesday the Minister of Health François Braun, during a visit to the Necker hospital in Paris. François Braun finds in Ile-de-France “the most important peak in terms of bronchiolitis epidemic”. The Ile-de-France region has indeed been in the endemic phase since October 3 now, according to the Regional Health Agency, which announced 28 transfers of young patients, this Monday evening
. The Minister of Health claims to have asked the ARS as well as the AP-HP that the “families of transferred children are taken care of” particularly in terms of housing, on the same model as what had been done during patient transfers in the midst of the Covid-19 epidemic.

During his visit to Necker Hospital, the Minister met “physically and morally tired teams”. He assures that the government “will provide substantial aid” for these teams. Proof of this is this meeting scheduled for Wednesday between the Minister of Health and “all pediatric professionals to work on the refoundation not only of the hospital as a whole, but also of the child health sector”. François Braun specifies that he will bring together “learned societies, personalities from pediatrics who work on this subject and all those who contributed to the Igas report” (General Inspectorate of Social Affairs) recognized by several pediatric societies and associations of families of sick children.

This meeting scheduled for Wednesday will mainly focus on “the future of the pediatric sector”, promises François Braun. He recalls that he already has “announced emergency measures”and in particular the financial assistance of 150 million euros for several hospital services.
“The pediatric conference will be held in April” in order to take stock of this question of saturated pediatric emergencies, but also on “the extension of the 1,000-day plan and the problem of child psychiatry sectors which are also in difficulty”, supports the minister. François Braun recognizes once again that “the hospital is in trouble”. He confirms that he has given himself the mission of “refound the hospital on other bases”without however specifying them.
