Since the beginning of the year, the prices of almost all foods have increased. Increases set to continue in early 2023.

Prices continue to soar and shopping carts are increasingly difficult to fill for many households. “We take the first prices, even if it’s not of good quality, but hey, we have to deal with it”, admits a customer in a supermarket. For the past year, the prices of food products have been increasing at full speed, an inflation that is inevitable according to the agro-food manufacturers with the explosion of production costs.

In France, almost all the biggest industrial groups will raise their prices next year. At Danone, between 15% and 19% increase are planned. “Prices can become unbearable for the end consumer. Everyone measures the risk, but no one knows the famous threshold where the customer turns away”, analyzes Laurent Plantevin, strategy advisor. At the beginning of next year, inflation should rise to 5% according to the Ministry of the Economy.
