The presidential election in Brazil, the second round of which took place on Sunday, October 30, is the most polarized in the country’s modern history.
Sunday, October 30, the Brazilians voted for the second round of the presidential election, with a very uncertain outcome, between two candidates who are opposed by everything. The outgoing president, Jair Bolsonaro, is openly hostile to indigenous culture and climate issues. His opponent, Lula, for his part defends the values of the left. The latter went to vote in a white shirt, while Jair Bolsonaro opted for a T-shirt in the colors of the national flag.
Both competitors have chosen to be confident. “God willing, we will win tonight, or better yet, Brazil will be victorious”said the far-right candidate. “It’s the most important day of my life”affirmed for his part the former president Lula. The official result of this election, the most polarized in modern Brazilian history, was expected on the night of Sunday October 30 to Monday October 31.
