The novelty

Migratory hearts

To be honest, we had little (or no) expectations for this documentary series which paints the portrait of couples whose love story began at a distance. But after watching the first episode, which will air this week, we confirm that we will listen to the next one. Because Migratory hearts challenges our prejudices, especially with the example of Jean-Pierre, a 67-year-old man from Rimouski, who has a relationship with Taimelys, a 35-year-old Cuban. We are also curious to know what will happen to the visa renewal of Ousséni, a friendly accountant from Burkina Faso who now lives in Quebec with Marlène, mother of three children.

The safe bet

Revolution

After four seasons, Revolution always makes our heart dance. The competition continues to generate moments of sincere emotions, never forced, that no other talent show of its kind (The voice, Star Academy) fails to dock. Sunday’s broadcast will mark the conclusion of the face-to-face. We do not know the identity of the competitors who will move on to the next round, but we bet that we will hear Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse launch her famous “What have we just experienced? at least once during the hour and a half. As for the masters, we know that we can count on several “Ralala” from the Twins in full numbers, slightly exaggerated lyrical flights from Jean-Marc and a few perfectly stated surgical criticisms from Lydia.

The ADISQ Gala

The musical program of the meeting led by Louis-José Houde is robust this year. Performances are announced from Cœur de pirate, Corneille, Émile Bilodeau, Hubert Lenoir, Lisa LeBlanc, Patrice Michaud, Samian, Sarahmée, Bruno Pelletier and Mario Pelchat (who will each celebrate their 40-year career by singing together), Naya Ali, Édith Butler, Laura Niquay, Claude McKenzie and Quatuor Esca, not to mention the Revelations of the Year, Étienne Coppée, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine, La Zarra, Ariane Roy and Jay Scott. The offer will be just as rich at the Premier Gala hosted by Pierre Lapointe (Wednesday, 8 p.m., on Télé-Québec) with Clay and Friends, Koriass, Martha Wainwright, Salomé Leclerc and Souldia, to name a few.

The roll of the dice

Avenue 5

Comedies are rare this fall. That’s why a growing number of viewers are embracing HBO’s futuro-satirical offering, which chronicles the journey of wealthy tourists through space, which turns into a nightmare when a gravitational event deflects their trajectory. Result of the change of orbit: their eight-week journey will ultimately last three years. Combining humor and science fiction, Avenue 5 sometimes reminds The Good Place, without however reaching his genius. Starring Hugh Laurie (the ship’s incompetent captain), Josh Gad (its completely out of touch billionaire owner), Zach Woods (the passenger services manager) and Rebecca Front (an all-consuming customer).
