Misconduct | Your favorite player in the history of the Impact: your answers

Last Sunday, we asked you who was your favorite player in the history of the Montreal Impact. Here are some of the responses we received.

The Impact player who impressed me the most is Laurent Ciman. His story that led him to come here to Quebec, his role as general in central defense, his departure from the club and his return to the technical team are all elements that feed my admiration. I have clear memories of him when I was at the stadium, he spent the match countering opposing attacks to spring at the end of the game on a corner and win the club! The General will always be my number 1.

Ignacio Piatti

Without hesitation, it’s Nacho Piatti. His presence on the field ensured the possibility of victory for the Impact. Few players made me vibrate so much in professional soccer in Montreal.

Armando Melo

Over time, Nacho Piatti: how many times has he set the stadium on fire with his climbs on the left flank? He was the man of great occasions. Special mentions to Marco Di Vaio, a pure goalscorer who always played on the verge of offside creating tension, and Laurent Ciman, a great general in the defense who saved the day many times.

Didier Drogba and Patrice Bernier

Spontaneously I would say Didier Drogba and Patrice Bernier. Drogba for his art on the pitch. Bernier for his presence, our immortal Impact captain. If someone asks me who is my favorite person at the Impact, then it’s obvious: Mauro Biello. What a player, but also what a coach! The best… after Wilfried Nancy.

Marco Di Vaio

Marco Di Vaio. It’s the one I remember the most. Memories have become a little hazy over time, however they are precious, but I remember it was like a magician to me. He was the first player of this caliber to join the Impact in MLS and he scored some gems of goals during his time with the club.

Kathiuscia Thomas and Saphir Taïder

I would tell you that my favorite player was Saphir Taïder. Very talented, always everywhere and character! Anecdote, my girls brought out a picture I took of the two of us and put it on my birthday cake. I can tell you that there was no question of eating the image. Until my husband gets tired and tells us, that’s enough, it’s going to rot!

justin mapp

My favorite player: Justin Mapp. His dribbles, his races which destabilized the opposing defense, his acceleration, his precise passes, his cannonballs coming from nowhere. Although injuries slowed him down, he remained a favorite with fans who celebrated every time he played on the field. He has kept permanent ties with Montreal: his ex-spouse and his son live there. Another unforgettable: Mauricio Vincello. A player who operated in two modes: gruesome or spectacular. Nothing in between. An ebullient, extroverted player who could change the look of a match on his own, for better or for worse.
