“We have in front of us individuals who are heavily armed. We have passed a milestone and we want that to stop. We want to have the means, so that we can restore calm”, in Martinique, he insisted. He also detailed the assaults experienced by his colleagues: “One of our colleagues ended up at the CHU of Fort-de-France, where he was hospitalized. He was injured during a patrol.” According to him, “a coil of electric cables was swung on the vehicle where he was”. Moreover, still according to Jimmy Hellénis, “Other officials were targeted by gunfire. There is one who was only saved thanks to his bulletproof vest because the impact took place in the thorax. “
According to departmental secretary of the SGP-Police FO-Martinique union, “there are weapons of war in circulation, which go hand in hand with drugs “. He explains this by the insularity of Martinique: “We are on an island, our border is porous, with the sea we can arrive from anywhere”. He also assures that he is “very difficult to put an end to this arrival of weapons on our territory “. Jimmy Hellénis therefore claims “the means to intercept these ships which arrive with these weapons which are very easily obtained in the neighboring islands and also by air. It has been said for a while.”
