“Recognition, an honor too” for the firefighters received at the Elysée

Remi Brajus is 18 years old, he is the youngest of the 11 Hérault firefighters received this Friday at the Elysée. He has been a volunteer firefighter for a year at the Pézenas barracks.

It was the first time I went to Paris and maybe the only time to the Elysée, of course I brought back a photo with the President of the Republic.

In the delegation three women, symbol of the feminization of the profession, 17% of the current workforce, and 30% among the new recruits, Laurie Chapel firefighter nurse in Lodève, Julie Espérou in Olonzac and Corporal Jade Courtin from the Mireval barracks.

“For me, it’s still a little unreal, moreover when it was offered to me, I thought it was a joke, it’s a chance, an honor also to have been able to attend this moment for us and for all the colleagues who remained in the barracks.

For Comptroller General Eric Florès, it was important that the whole department is represented in its territorial diversity, small and large fire stations, men, women, professional and volunteer firefighters.

“When the President of the Republic thanks us for our commitment, of course it’s important, but we don’t do that” Corporal Jade Courtin
