CHUG management denounces new “exactions” and files a complaint

The management of the CHUG deplores the vandalized premises of the Human Resources Department, as well as the fact that the students and their trainers were forced to leave the hospital grounds on Thursday. She filed a complaint against X, while pointing the finger at the Collective of organizations in struggle.

About fifty people invaded the human resources department of the University Hospital Center of Guadeloupe, blocked the corridor of this service with a cupboard, cut off the electricity and made it impossible for the officers of this department to carry out their missions.

Press release from the CHUG management – 27/10/2022

The management of the University Hospital Center of Guadeloupe (CHUG) announced, in a press release, that it had filed a complaint for “degradations observed and for the obstacle in the execution of the public service missions of the HRD and schools and training institutes“. This, after news “abuses“perpetrated yesterday (Thursday, October 27, 2022), within the health establishment.

Even if the complaint is lodged against X, the deputy director of the CHUG, Cédric Zolezzi, points the finger at the Collective of organizations in the fight against the obligation to vaccinate, whose bik has been installed in the outdoor car park, in front of the hospital, since July 2021.

Of the fifty or so activists who overflowed yesterday, half would not be CHUG agents and therefore could not be identified, according to Cédric Zolezzi.

Cédric Zolezzi: “… The members of the Collective held a press conference at the very site of the damage and, therefore, the link is still quite easy to make…”.

Despite the permanent presence of national police officers at the entrance to the site, liters of motor oil were spilled on the walls and floors of the common areas of the administrative building where the human resources department (DRH ). In this context, it was evacuated and “the general management has instructed the team present to telework“, specifies the press release.

Moreover, activists reportedly “strength“students and trainers present to leave lecture halls and offices, including those of the Institute of Nursing Education.”An air conditioning motor was also torn off” is it written. Therefore, “the courses of first-year students of Schools and Training Institutes will be given by videoconference so that the intimidation of October 27 does not happen again“decided the direction of the CHUG.

A press conference was organized this Thursday by the Collective of Organizations in Struggle. The opportunity for the leaders of this movement, opposed to the obligation to vaccinate against Covid-19, to recall their demands: they demand the reinstatement, rehabilitation and compensation of all suspended.

As part of the negotiations, Joël Mathurin, chief of staff to the minister delegate in charge of overseas territories, was dispatched to Guadeloupe in mid-October. The latter, on behalf of the government, offered suspended staff increased contractual terminations, as well as a more flexible pre-retirement scheme.
These proposals were rejected by the collective.

Thus, after several months of calm and exchanges, there is once again a breakdown in dialogue between the collective and its interlocutors, whether the government, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the management of the CHUG.

Cédric Zolezzi: “… We do not have the capacity, we, as establishment managers, to modify the law…”

Another denunciation of the management of the hospital: the non-suspended staff would be the subject of pressure, so that they sign a petition in favor of the reinstatement of their non-vaccinated colleagues.

Cédric Zolezzi: “…we ask that the free choice to sign or not to sign be left to the staff, without any form of intimidation…”

But remember: on October 11, the Minister Delegate in charge of Overseas Territories, Jean-François Carenco, affirmed that “all the other hospital staff, all the doctors in the hospital are against reinstatement“.”We have to navigate between the majority of hospital staff, almost all of the heads of departments, who are against it, and we manage to find a solution that somewhat respects people’s opinions.“, he added.

What set fire to the powder, by opposing each other.

Cédric Zolezzi: “… It is true that, in the services, there would be a misunderstanding on the part of all those who have made the effort to be vaccinated…”

The management of the CHU deplores all the more the blocking of human resources, as they have several burning files on fire, in particular the closing of the payroll, the calculation of the service bonus and the organization of the professional elections, planned on December 8, 2022.
