Emmanuel Macron announced, Friday, October 28, a plan to fight forest fires. “An additional 150 million euros for the departmental fire and rescue services” were notably mentioned, indicates the journalist Guillaume Daret, live from the Élysée Palace. The President of the Republic also wishes to strengthen air resources. “France now has 12 Canadairs. Within five years, these 12 Canadairs will be renewed, and four more will be purchased”continues the journalist.
In addition, ten heavy helicopters will be rented from next season, compared to only two in 2022. On the prevention side, Emmanuel Macron announced “the establishment of a weather forecast for the forest, like the marine weather forecast, to see the areas precisely where there will be a greater risk of fires”, announces Guillaume Daret. Emmanuel Macron has also promised to plant a billion trees within 10 years.
