For a long time now, Hugues Aufray likes to present his mistress Muriel as his “young companion“. The 93-year-old singer is totally in love with the one who shares his life in the house of his dreams, the former home of the sculptor Aristide Maillol, in Marly-le-Roi (Hauts-de-Seine). But the artist does not nonetheless married to Hélène Faure, the mother of his two daughters, Marie (62) and Charlotte (59). A woman he loved so much until his last breath, on October 6th. This faithful wife from whom he ultimately never divorced died October 6, in their property of Orgnac-l’Aven in Ardèche. Hélène Faure was buried on October 13, not far from this farm where the artist gave free rein to his passion for horses, specify our colleagues, this Friday, October 28. As for Hugues Aufray, he is “broken with grief at losing the mother of his children“. Their story was so singular, and stood the test of time. The bonds of marriage were sacred to them and they never wanted to break them. Not even when the interpreter of Celine met the one who shares his life today, Muriel Mégevand. Since 2005, he has lived with this mistress, but there is no question of officially regaining his freedom.
The whole clan mourns Hélène Faure
Their meeting with Hélène Faure, dancer and daughter of art historian Élie Faure, dates back to 1950. Married a year later, she gave birth to their first daughter seven years later. Together, the two artists enjoyed a solid and reassuring family life. They lived happy days in Marnes-la-Coquette, houses which they finally sold in 2016. If Hugues Aufray is broken by this disappearance, the members of the clan are just as much. Marie and Charlotte, but also their respective companions and their seven granddaughters and five great-grandsons, all mourn this exceptional woman together. Despite the notoriety of her husband and his fickle side, Hélène Faure held firm and showed herself to the end as the model and conciliatory wife that we know.
