The Eagles did the job. After a raging defeat against Slovacko on the last day of the Europa League conference, Nice started again, Thursday, October 27, beating Partizan Belgrade at home (2-1). Thanks to this victory, Lucien Favre’s men take first place in their group, tied on points with the Serbs. They will play their qualification in Cologne next week. Note that the group’s other meeting between the Czechs and the Germans has been postponed due to weather conditions.
Solid, the people of Nice opened the scoring through Nicolas Pépé, vigilant at six meters to take a blocked shot from Gaëtan Laborde (29th). On returning from the locker room, the locals however missed the opportunity to take shelter and were punished. Ricardo Gomes put Belgrade back in the game a quarter of an hour from time (74th). But in the process, Mario Lemina managed to put his team back in front thanks to an attempt deflected by the Serbian defense (77th).
