Drama in Italy. One person was killed and four others were injured in a knife attack late Thursday afternoon, October 27, in a Carrefour shopping center in Assago, south of Milan, Italian authorities and media reported. Among the wounded, figure the Spanish footballer Pablo Mari, . Hospitalized, he was conscious and able to speak, a source close to the club told AFP.
In a press release, the CEO of Carrefour Italy, specified that the victim is an employee of the hypermarket. “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of our employees following the attack that occurred today”writes Christophe Rabatel. “A young supermarket employee (…) unfortunately lost his life”declared on Facebook the president of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, specifying that the other injured “fortunately do not seem to be in mortal danger”.
The assailant is a 46-year-old Italian suffering from psychiatric disorders, Italian news agency Ansa reported. He was arrested moments after the attack. The authorities exclude at this stage the terrorist track e: according to the first elements, the individual, who was followed for depression, grabbed a knife on the shelf before randomly hitting several people nearby.

Arsenal, the club from which the central defender is from also reacted on Twitter. “Our thoughts are with Pablo Mari and the other victims, writes the English club. We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent who told us he was in hospital and not seriously injured.”
