The book, titled Sparewill feature a tale told with “raw and unflinching honesty”, in which the prince reflects and examines the “eternal power of love”, publishing house Penguin Random House has claimed.

In a statement on Thursday, Penguin Random House recalled Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, walking behind the coffin of their mother, Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997.

Many then wondered what could be going on in the minds of the two young princes, and this is an opportunity for Harry to tell his point of view, indicates the publishing house.

The book’s title is an apparent reference to Prince Harry being in a royal “spare”, not the first line of succession. William, Prince of Wales, is heir to the throne.

The 416-page book will be released in 16 languages, from Dutch to Portuguese, and will also be released in an audio edition read by Prince Harry. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will use the proceeds to donate to UK charities. He has already donated 1.5 million US (over 2 million CAN) to Sentebale, an organization he co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho to help children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana affected by HIV/AIDS .

Penguin Random House identifies Prince Harry as “a husband, father, humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate and environmentalist.”

The Duke of Sussex had already spoken extensively about his private life when he and his American-born wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, were interviewed by their neighbor from Santa Barbara, California, Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. The couple said spoke of Meghan’s deep dissatisfaction with her new life in England, alleged racism within the royal family and Harry’s fear that his wife’s life would be in danger had they remained in his homeland.

Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States.
