Horticultural columnist Larry Hodgson is dead, his son Mathieu announced Thursday on the site of the “lazy gardener”, the nickname adopted by his father.
Mr Hodgson had suffered from degenerative pulmonary fibrosis since 2016.
He had been hospitalized on October 19, “for lack of being able to receive at home the care which had become necessary for him”, he writes. “He chose to resort to medical assistance in dying”.
“His last days were comfortable and serene,” added Mathieu Hodgson.
The “lazy gardener” was known to more than a generation of budding horticulturalists through his media columns. He notably wrote for 38 years for the daily The sun.
He is survived by his son Mathieu and his wife, his wife Marie and his wife’s children and their spouses.
