Italian cinema is in the spotlight from October 28 to November 13, 2022 in Villerupt.An event to discover with France Bleu Lorraine.
the Villerupt Italian Film Festivala small steel town near the Luxembourg border, was founded somewhat by chance in 1976 by a group of film enthusiasts.
the Villerupt Festival is today one of the benchmark events in Italian cinema. Welcoming more than 40,000 spectators each year, and mobilizing nearly 200 volunteers.
Screenings, exhibitions, concerts, but also meetings in Villerupt, Audun-le-Tiche and Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) and in all the partner cities.
The theme of the festival will be “The woman with the camera – Italian female directors”
The festival proposes to explore a selection of films made by women through a retrospective of contemporary cinema in France and Italy!
More 80 movies are presented, all in original version and subtitled in French on nearly 300 sessions offered.

Tribute to the great filmmaker Lina Wertmüller:
First female filmmaker to have been nominated for theHollywood Oscar of the staging (it was in 1977for Pasqualino). She started out as an assistant to Fellini for his movie 8 1/2 remains, with Liliana Cavani, one of the few women to have established herself in Italian cinema of the 1960s and 70s.
In 2019, she received an honorary Oscar for her entire career.
This year, the Festival promises to be particularly rich in emotions and discoveries!
