Unemployment stagnates in Franche-Comté, except for young and old unemployed

Franche-Comté follows the national dynamic in terms of employment,
stability. In the figures for the third quarter of 2022 from the Ministry of Labour, the number of unemployed (category A, without activity) is stagnating.

+0.2% on average in the 3 departments

In this third quarter, the number of unemployed (category A, without activity) is on the rise in the Doubs (0.7%), it stagnates in the Territoire de Belfort (0.1%), and it decline in Haute-Saône (-0.6%), which makes an average of -0.2% in the three departments.

But over one year, the drop is global, and remarkable in the Doubs, which recorded the largest drop in one year (-13.2%), among all the departments of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Significant drop among the long-term unemployed

An unusual drop should be noted: that of the long-term unemployed, those who have not had a job for at least a year. Above all, a significant and lasting decline. Another -3% on this third quarterif we take the average between the Doubs, the Haute-Saône and the Territoire de Belfort.

A downside all the same: this sharp drop concerns the unemployed registered for one to two years at Pôle Emploi. The category of the oldest unemployed, those registered for more than three years, is experiencing a more timid decline.

After a peak observed between 2019 and 2020, the unemployment rate among young people, those under 25, also continues to fall steadily.
