the last stage will start from Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

The official route of the Tour de France 2023
will be unveiled on the morning of this Thursday, October 27 by the director of the Grande Boucle, Christian Prudhomme. The last stage of this 110th edition will arrive, as usual, on the Champs-Elysées in Paris and will start from Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and more precisely, the national velodrome located in Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

This rewards all the efforts made for cycling, and cycling in general, by the urban community of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, according to its deputy vice-president for sports, Laurent Mazaury, since the construction of this velodrome for the 2012 Olympics, finally for London.

The velodrome hosted the track cycling world championships in 2015 and has just hosted those of 2022. This is also in line with the efforts we are making by hosting the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the velodrome and also on the BMX track located next door. The Hill of Elancourt which is in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines will host the mountain bike events of the Olympic Games and then the women’s and men’s road cycling events will pass through the city“, describes the chosen one.

Can we hope for a fictitious and festive start inside the velodrome itself?

I don’t know if there will be a fictitious start as we have known from the Arena at La Défense. There are still one or two technical problems to be solved because the track, the central area of the velodrome, is raised in relation to the outside. It is accessed by stairs so it’s still too early to tell. Even if there is no start inside, it will be right in front. There is the Celestial Peace Square which is really 15 centimeters from the velodrome, which is outside and can accommodate a lot of people“, believes Laurent Mazaury.

The presentation of the course is to follow, in video, on francebleu.fr from 11:30 am this Thursday, October 27. The Tour de France 2023 will take place from July 1 to 23.
