The German manufacturer Audi announced, on Wednesday October 26, its alliance with Sauber for its return to Formula 1. The Swiss team, which will still bear the Alfa Romeo name next season, will compete as an Audi works team and will use an engine developed by the famous brand of the Volkswagen group from 2026.

“The partnership between Audi and Sauber is a key step for our team as it continues to progress up the grid.reacted Frédéric Vasseur, the current director of the Sauber team in a press release. Becoming the official Audi team is not only an honor and a great responsibility: it is the best option for the future and we are fully convinced that we can help Audi achieve the goals they have set for their trip to Formula 1.” Audi will become a minority shareholder in Sauber and gradually buy out the Swiss team.
