“I’m going to end up leaving this country”: Mathieu (Love is in the meadow) faced with a new unexpected event for his GPA

The life of Matthew (46) has been somewhat hectic in recent months. The candidate of Love is in the meadow announced his breakup with Alexandre, met during the filming of the 2020 edition. Despite everything, he has not given up his dream of becoming a dad and is therefore continuing with the steps for his GPA (in Colombia) alone. But the bull breeder in the Camargue is again facing a stressful situation.

As soon as his portrait of Love is in the meadow, Mathieu revealed that he was a carrier of Cadasil disease, a rare and incurable generic disease that can cause migraines, mental disorders and strokes. Although he lives with a sword of Damocles above his head, Karine Le Marchand’s friend takes advantage of every moment and is not afraid to realize his dreams. Like becoming a dad. So, he turned to surrogacy and traveled to Colombia last summer. Since then, he has scrupulously followed the procedures for this protocol. But at the end of September, moment of panic. “The clinic there asked for a blood sample from my parents and me. They gon’ send me kits here [pour un test ADN, NDLR]. I have to find them, send them back or bring them to Spain. And they mostly asked me for a blood sample from my dad. Except that my dad passed away in September. It is complicated“, he confided.

Matthew angry

The situation seems to have since unblocked. Mathieu received the famous kits as he unveiled it on October 25, 2022 in story, a month later. But his excitement quickly gave way to anger and anguish again. “You won’t believe it. I just called 3 labs to take my samples. And the 3 answered me that they could not do it because it was prohibited in France. That’s it, I’m even going to fight to get these samples. In France we are forbidden from everything. I’m going to end up leaving this country, it’s just not possible anymore. I will calm down and try to find another solution. Others have succeeded“, he was indignant.

Mathieu spoke again on video a little later in the day. “I carry a mutation called the NOTCH3 gene mutation. And to prevent my child from being affected by this disease and having the same mutation, we are going to take DNA test samples with my mother. So we received a kit with two pipettes for sampling like in the movies. We will do them and also draw blood that we are going to send back by plane to the lab which is in Spain“, he confided at first. He then explained that in Spain the specialists were going to do the necessary analyzes and that then the results would be sent to Colombia so that the geneticists could see, when the embryo will be five days old, if some are carriers of the disease.”Obviously, it lengthens the time of the GPA which is already long. But at least I will be the father of a healthy carrier child and I am delighted“, he concluded.

Indeed, as he clarified in the caption of a video posted on his newsfeed, this “further lengthens the period of 7 to 8 weeks“.
