The electronic composer Francis Latreille recently offered Your Own Power, his second album in his career, composed and recorded in the spring and summer of 2020, at the height of the first pandemic wave. A beautiful record, and still relevant, even for vaccinated doubles: through contemplative tracks hesitating between house, techno and ambient music, Priori reproduces the time that stops and forces introspection with even more finesse. than on the EP Little flower which he proposed last summer. The sound color palette is more concentrated, its grooves refined, crystalline, harmonious (we want to lose ourselves for hours in Color Me and the soft The Village), the dub effects that stained his previous productions having been sparingly used. This “minimalist” posture brings back to our fond memories the most delicate examples of the intelligent English dance music of the 1990s, or the series of famous albums born from the collaboration between the German Pete Namlook and the Canadian Richie Hawtin under the name From Within (1994-1997).
