It seems that an uprising is brewing in the Conservative Party of Quebec. The party will hold a rally next weekend to discuss the election result. Party members would show up there with the idea of blaming Éric Duhaime for a campaign with disappointing results.

Obviously, the day after an election, all the parties will say that they would have liked to do more. Even with 90 deputies, the organizers of the CAQ are a little disappointed to have missed entry into Montreal. They wonder how much Jean Boulet’s statements on immigration should be blamed for this failure.
So we can imagine that in a party that did not manage to elect a single deputy, the disappointment is very present. In the case of the Conservative Party, gaffes are easy to identify. Just think of all his posters with mistakes.
Election posters cost a fortune. Before giving the green light to the massive printing of signs, it is obviously necessary to reread and revise the words and the names which appear there. Taking donor money to produce erroneous posters is a disaster. Do it repeatedly… ouch!

Duhaime’s fault?
Conservative friends who claim that the faults on the posters are Mr. Duhaime’s fault are right. Without Éric Duhaime, there would have been no faults because there would have been no posters! Without the new impetus given by the new leader in less than two years, this party would not have had the financial means for a major national wall-to-wall poster campaign.
I will remind you that the Conservative Party of Quebec existed before Éric Duhaime. But the majority of voters were unaware. It was a small party among others, of which no one could spontaneously name the leader.
The party had not fielded candidates in all counties and garnered 59,000 votes across Quebec in 2018. That was already progress from 2014, when they garnered 16,000 votes. Basically, they had less than enough to win a riding in Quebec as a whole.
Miracle
Éric Duhaime gave notoriety to the Conservative Party of Quebec, he mobilized, he positioned himself strategically to be invited to the leaders’ debates. Without him, chances are this party would have remained in limbo. And of course, when you’re in limbo, you’re unlikely to find yourself criticized on the front page.
However, there are things to criticize the Conservative Party. There are stages of professionalization to go through, experience should help. To accelerate funding and mobilization, Éric Duhaime stuck too closely to people associated with dubious theories. We will have to distance ourselves from conspiratorial movements to build on more credible foundations.
But challenge Éric Duhaime? Ridiculous.
