St. Pius | Two young men die in a swerve

(Saint-Pie) Two young men lost their lives after the car in which they were riding swerved late Monday evening in Saint-Pie, Montérégie.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) explains that around 10 p.m., the car driven by an 18-year-old man on Chemin Saint-Dominique skidded, left the road, hit a pole and rolled over.

When they arrived at the scene of the accident, the authorities used pliers to extract the driver from the wreckage of the automobile. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The death of the car passenger, a 19-year-old man, was also confirmed at the hospital.

The two occupants of the car were residents of Saint-Pie.

No other vehicles were involved in the road tragedy.

At the start of the day on Tuesday, the Sûreté du Québec had not yet ruled out any hypothesis to explain what happened. Investigators will examine the scene of the crash.
