At the age of 86, environmentalist David Suzuki has announced that he will be leaving Tea nature of things, to CBC, at the end of its 44e season at the helm of the show.

In interview at The National, Sunday, David Suzuki explained that he had wanted to retire for a while, but that he feared that this decision would sound the death knell for the show as he was identified with it. “But gradually it became clear that we could prepare for a new animator – and I think it’s time! David Suzuki told host Ian Hanomansing, who interviewed him at his home in Vancouver.
Environmentalist and geneticist of international renown, David Suzuki hosted his first program of The Nature of Things 43 years ago to the day, October 24, 1979. Over the decades, this great science popularizer has helped to educate television viewers in Canada and dozens of other countries around the world on the importance of moving towards a more sustainable.
The next season by The Nature of Things (and last for David Suzuki) will be back from January 6, until spring. CBC will announce in the coming weeks who will take over from David Susuki.
