The transition from Julie Snyder to Everybody talks about it Sunday night sparked strong reactions on social media. While some congratulate her for keeping calm in the face of questions from Guy A. Lepage and MC Gilles, others question the relevance ofDouble occupation (OD), at the heart of a controversy after some candidates were accused of intimidation.
“It’s not black or white bullying, it’s a fine line. If we had been better equipped, I think we would have intervened better with the three candidates, ”recognized the producer of the reality show, who offered her apologies on the set of Everybody talks about it (TLMEP). Under the fire of criticism from viewers and dumped by several sponsors, OD Martinique ousted three of its candidates last week for intimidating other participants.
Julie Snyder, however, justified herself on Sunday evening for having intervened only after the departure of a dozen of her sponsors. “We started to act in September with interventions before it got bigger,” she repeated. Stéphane Villeneuve, bullying prevention specialist, also made an appearance on Sunday during the weekly program ofOD to provide training to candidates.
Internet users applauded the “courage” and “transparency” of Julie Snyder in the face of questions from Guy A. Lepage and MC Gilles, who were, in turn, accused of intimidation by several spectators on the Web.
Congratulations to @snyderjulie. Phew a not easy interview, but we feel the sincerity in his remarks. They do what they can and adapt as they go! #tlmep #od

Others have rather denounced the will of the production of OD to broadcast these passages of intimidation to increase the ratings. ” She [Julie Snyder] gives his speech without really taking responsibility. 24 out of 24, they film and do “meticulous” editing… They knew, she knew, but maybe she needed some bickering for a better show. The line has been crossed”, writes the Internet user Jeannette Cyr on the Facebook page of TLMEP.
Reality TV, an outdated model?
Asked whether such a reality show should still exist in 2022 in Quebec, the star host affirmed again Monday, at the microphone of All one morningthat an alternative to American content must be offered.
“If OD withdraws, […] we will no longer be able to participate in the discussion to change society, and young people from Quebec aged 18-25 will watch these reality shows in the United States [, qui] are well well much more rough “, argued M.me Snyder.
Several people on social networks are convinced that opening the discussion on the subject has been beneficial. But calls to end the show also multiplied.
Can we just shoot OD’s plug? It’s like the worst show that exists, stop there #tlmep

Julie Snyder told TLMEP that she “don’t expect” this to be the last season of OD. The dailies are suspended for the time being, but the 16e edition should continue its course, in spite of the controversy.
