As winter approaches, Russia has stepped up strikes against nuclear infrastructure in Ukraine to encourage residents to leave. More than a million households find themselves in the dark on Saturday, October 22.

The streets are plunged into darkness. Ukrainians are forced to walk by the light of flashlights, Saturday, October 22, or car headlights. Public lighting is switched off to save electricity and rotating blackouts are organized by district. “It’s impossible to study because the teachers no longer have internet. In the south of the country, 50% of the electrical network is out of order. The police therefore ask traders to turn off their neon signs and hunt down apartments that do not apply the restrictions. In kyiv, in a tea room, the managers had to adapt and light up by candlelight. They totally cut theelectricity but hope to find a generator in the next few weeks. Without it, they will no longer be able to work. Russian military launched 36 rockets last week, mostly targeting power grid.
