Buying a house is becoming more and more complicated because of the rise in the credit rate. New home sales plummet of 27% since the beginning of the year. Many construction sites are thus canceled on Friday, October 21.

A site located in the Oise is one of the few started for a builder of individual houses. Indeed, not a day goes by without a construction project being cancelled. Its activity was considerably reduced on Friday, October 21. “Today the single-family home market is at minus 26%, so it’s important”emphasizes Quentin Bourdon, CEO of the group BDL. Acquirers are also lacking. Materials have also become difficult to find and are increasingly expensive.

For example, a house originally costs 200,000 euros. “Whether brick, concrete, PVC, framework, roofing, all construction items represent between 15% and 20% increase. On a house like this, typically, it’s 30,000 euros more to buy”, explains Nicolas Le Forestier. At the same time, it is increasingly difficult to obtain a loan. One client even had to scale down the size of his house because of rising prices.
