Could the end of $1 products at Dollarama be coming soon? The Montreal retailer, which has built its reputation on low prices, may no longer offer them. Or less and less. In recent months, the majority of these products have climbed in price, today showing $1.25 to $1.75.

“It may not seem like much, since these are small amounts, but it’s still a significant increase, of at least 25%,” calculates Maryse Côté-Hamel, assistant professor of consumer science at Laval University.
“Unlike Walmart, which gradually increases its prices by pennies at a time, Dollarama’s strategy is to round up prices. Going from $1 to $1.25 is more striking for consumers,” she continues.
