Laurent Desbois’ narrow victory as mayor of Outremont was confirmed Thursday by the Court of Quebec.
Mr. Desbois was a candidate under the banner of Ensemble Montreal, the political formation of Denis Coderre. He beat Philipe Tomlinson, mayor of the borough since 2017 with Projet Montréal.
The results published on election night gave Mr. Desbois a lead of only 23 votes. Projet Montréal has called for a recount of the ballot boxes, which ended on Thursday.
“Congratulations Laurent, it is a great pleasure to officially count you among our big family”, indicated Ensemble Montreal on social networks. “There is no doubt, the borough will be in good hands and will finally regain its pride. ”
The results of the new counts in the district of Tétreaultville and at the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles are still pending.
In the last two days, the victory of the candidates of Projet Montreal was confirmed in two other districts, as well as in the town hall of Côte-des-Neiges – Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
