The UFC-Que Choisir association has revealed that low-cost products are sometimes better than those of the big brands. Some foods, like lasagna, come from the same factories, and sometimes the cheapest is the best.

Can less expensive products, with sleek packaging and very attractive prices, be worth their brand equivalents? “I was surprised that no, between certain brands and sub-brands there is no difference”says a young woman. “With a brand, we also sometimes have the idea that it will be of better quality when in fact not at all”says another. The magazine “Que Choisir” conducted the investigation. First price products would be similar or better in some cases. Sometimes the recipes are even identical.

“The extreme example will be the lasagna. They come from the same factory (…). They are rather correct lasagna so you might as well pay for them twice as muchr”, explains Elsa Abdounjournalist at theUFC-Que Choose”. But how to choose once on the shelves? Observation is the key according to an expert. According to him, it is necessary “compare the list of ingredients because in general, when there are too low prices, there is a wolf and you just have to find this wolf. And the second thing that we can advise is a bit of common sense, it is to simply look at the length of the list of ingredients”believes Olivier Dauversretail specialist. For the taste, everyone has their own opinion.
