In detention for 20 days now, Jean-Luc Lahaye will finally remain in prison. As reported by AFP this Thursday evening, the singer’s release request was rejected on November 18, 2021. As a reminder, the 68-year-old performer is indicted for suspicion of rape and sexual assault on two minors. The 80s star, 68, is suspected of sexually assaulting two teenage girls, then aged 15 to 17, from 2013.
The young girls, born in 1998 and 2000, lodged a complaint against the interpreter of Singer dad, then retracted before filing a new complaint at the beginning of the year, leading to the opening of an investigation by the prosecution. Jean-Luc Lahaye was indicted on November 5 in Paris, for “rape, rape and sexual assault of minors over 15, corruption of minors“and abuse of weakness. He has since been placed in pre-trial detention. His daughter Margaux, also placed in police custody, was released. On November 18, the investigative chamber of the Court of Appeal of Paris therefore rejected the singer’s release request, according to the judicial source.
“I regret this decision, which is however not surprising insofar as it is based on a file in which all the investigations were carried out against“, said Me David Apelbaum, who defends the singer with Me Camilla Quendolo, the day after the indictment and imprisonment of his client.”Judicial information will help restore the truth“, he added.
Jean-Luc Lahaye remains presumed innocent of the facts with which he is accused until the final judgment of this case.
