Milk producers will receive more money. But these increases will be passed on to the purchase. On the 19/20 set, David Boéri explains what this increase is due to.
The price of milk continues to rise. “This time, it is the price paid to the producer that flies away. The world number 1 in dairy products, Lactalis, undertakes to buy 49 cents per liter of milk from breeders, an increase of 32%”, explains David Boéri, present on the set of 19/20, Wednesday, October 19. This price is a boost to allow producers to cover their rising costs. “It is also to allow Lactalis to supply itself with milk, because it has become an increasingly rare product”continues the journalist.
This increase in the price of milk will likely be passed on to supermarket shelves. “According to Lactalis’ own calculations, the shelf prices of a carton of milk could increase by 15% on average next year”, details David Boéri. This will depend on the negotiations, knowing that the brands can decide to make an effort on their margins in order to limit the soaring prices. The price per liter of milk increased by 8.29% between September 2021 and September 2022 and this should increase further.
