You used the codes netflix a friend, your sister or your darling to binge-watch the series on Jeffrey Dahmer lately? Well hurry up to finish it and watch all the movies and series from your favorites list because the streaming platform is about to end account sharing. Why ? For pecuniary questions obviously, a person who uses the identifiers of another does not pay a subscription and despite the success of Netflix, money sleeps. From the beginning of 2023, the streaming leader will charge an additional cost to add people (outside the household) to an account. And not sure if the friend you were borrowing the codes from agrees with this idea, unless he is a very good friend.
“We have found a thoughtful approach to monetize account sharing and we will start rolling it out more widely from early 2023”, Netflix said on October 18 during the presentation of its financial results. With this upcoming ability to create “sub-accounts” to add additional members, Netflix hopes to generate new revenue that has previously slipped through the cracks. For the moment, no official price has been communicated, except for those used during the first tests in Latin America: 3 dollars in Chile, 2.99 dollars in Costa Rica and 2.12 dollars in Peru. And these are not the only ones, other countries have come under this constraint of around 3 euros. These include Honduras, Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. In view of all the boxes available on Netflix, we suspect that many will be ready to put their hands in their pockets to continue to benefit from the services of the platform. And then, a few euros more will always be less than the price of a subscription!
However, this news is perplexing on Twitter. “Hoping that many unsubscribe”, “Very risky. They will lose customers”, “But sorry? personally remove it chao netflix”, can we already read on the Web. Case to follow!
