teachers very mobilized in Caen

They came from all over Normandy to shout their opposition to the new reform of vocational high schools wanted by President Macron. A reform that gives more space to businesses denounced the demonstrators. Teachers, but also CPEs, principal education advisers, retired principals and high school students.

Leaving in procession from the rectorate of Caen, the demonstrators joined the Abbaye aux Dames, headquarters of the Regional Council, in charge of high schools. Main grievance the alignment for the 650,000 vocational high school students on learning. Clearly, students would spend 50% more time in the company.

50% more in the company means fewer theoretical courses in high school, whether in math, French, or technical disciplines

A greater place given to companies is also the risk of seeing training revised according to local needs to respond to sectors in tension, with the risk of a diploma which would lose its national character, fears the inter-union teacher.

Today, less than 1 apprentice out of 10 goes on to higher education when 4 vocational high school students out of 10 do.

What also worries teachers is to see their posts disappear in favor of untrained contract workers who would only intervene occasionally.
