The mayor of Ourouer-les-Bourdelins, in Cher, was the target of one or more shotgun fire this Tuesday, October 18, in the afternoon. Around 5:30 p.m., Sébastien Peras, 48, a farmer by profession, was driving his tractor on his farm, when a local resident shot in his direction with a shotgun.
The window of the vehicle was broken, and the city councilor was injured in the shoulder; at this time, the investigation has not determined whether the injury is related to lead or broken glass. But the public prosecutor of Bourges reassures: His days are not in danger.
The trail of a dispute between neighbors
The suspect, a resident of the town of around 600 inhabitants, was arrested on the spot, without difficulty. Placed in police custody, his hearings will continue at least until Wednesday. A search of his home was also conducted in the evening.
The investigation was entrusted to the Saint-Amand-Montrond research brigade, which will have to clarify the reasons for this attack. According to the first elements, the city councilor would not have been targeted because he is mayorbut because of a dispute between neighbors.
