The campaign to get the flu shot begins on Tuesday, October 18. People at risk can go to a pharmacy to receive a dose.
Tuesday, October 18, a woman receives the flu vaccine in a pharmacy. The regulars are present for the first day of the campaign. “We must be at around fifteen, twenty vaccinations since this morning (…). They are rather old people, rather with pathologies”explains Michael Gommez, pharmacist at Pharmabest in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis).
Most flu vaccines are made in France. Thus, the world’s largest production site is in Normandy. “The site produces more than 150 million doses for 170 countries”, says the director. To manufacture these vaccines, a race against time began in February. For their last stage, the vaccines go to the hospital pharmacies or to the wholesale distributor, who prepares and delivers the orders for the pharmacies. Flu vaccines can be given at the same time as those against Covid-19, one in each arm.
