It’s a new morning of scuffles in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine). Two more than a week, a group of young people tries to block the entrance to the Lycée Joliot Curie. It was the abolition of homework assistance in the establishment (since restored) that had set fire to the powder. Lthe violence continues and now affect the Claude Chappe high school.
This Monday, October 17, while the high school students are entering class, around twenty people first set fire to a parked car close to the Claude Chappe high school. Later, about fifty of them met in front of the gates of the Joliot Curie high school to disrupt access to the establishment, even if it meant attacking the students directly.
Two police officers slightly injured
Stones, mortars were thrown in the direction of the entrance doors, and the police present on the spot. Among them, two agents were slightly injured, the Prefect of Hauts-de-Seine said in a press release. Laurent Hottiaux says condemn “firmly these abuses”. It indicates that five people were taken into custody and outfits “at the disposal of justice”. For the time being, both establishments remain open. Last Friday, the Joliot Curie high school had kept its doors closed to reduce tensions.
