“It threatens the mobilized employees but it does not provide an answer to the question of wages”, laments Sunday, October 16 on franceinfo Alexis Corbière, LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis. He was reacting to Elisabeth Borne’s announcement at 8 p.m. on TF1 to requisition again, in the event of “very tense situations” on fuel supply. For Alexis Corbière, the Prime Minister “considers that the employers’ proposal is enough for him, the trade unions, which are not in the majority on the places of mobilization, that is enough for him”.

The MP would have liked the Prime Minister to make more announcements: “She could have said that she is calling a salary conference as we asked her for in July. The government can do it. She could have said that she was going to increase the Smic, we proposed it and she did. rejected. There, she does nothing, she only threatens to requisition.”

The deputy returns, once again, to one of the announcements made by Élisabeth Borne during the interview: “The Prime Minister said she had telephoned the boss of Total but what did she tell him about the question of wages?”he asks before adding: “How does she take matters into her own hands? I found her overwhelmed by events.” Alexis Corbière calls for mobilization on Tuesday October 18 for the general strike day: “We must remain mobilized. I think that all French people, I mean all of them, have an interest in finally discussing a better distribution of wealth.”

Finally, with regard to the government’s recourse to 49.3 to have the first part of its draft budget adopted in the Assembly without a vote, Élisabeth Borne announced that she will not use it on Monday but will no doubt have to resort. For Alexis Corbiere, “It’s a lot of brutality, it’s a way of crushing Parliament to say ‘I don’t care what you think, I’m moving on.'”
