A 25-year-old policeman was indicted for “willful violence resulting in death without intention to give it”this Sunday, October 16, after the death of a man following a refusal to comply in Paris on Friday
. He is placed under judicial control in accordance with what the prosecution had requested, and cannot possess a weapon, nor exercise his profession as a police officer. The police custody of the other police officer who also fired was lifted on Sunday, without prosecution at this stage.
One man dead, two others still at large
The case dates back to Friday evening when two peacekeepers open fire on a vehicle which refuses to be checked, for lack of insurance according to a judicial source, Cours de Vincennes, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. The driver of the vehicle, hit by at least one bullet, died in the evening. Two other people in the car are still on the run this Sunday.
The IGPN, the police force, is in charge of an investigation to determine the responsibility of the two police officers. As for the judicial police, it oversees a second investigation for “attempted murder of a person holding public authority”.
