The track duo won the third French gold medal in the world track cycling championships on Sunday.
A real show of strength. The French Benjamin Thomas and Donavan Grondin won the world title in the Madison event on Sunday October 16 at the national velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. This is the third gold medal for the French team in these World Track Cycling Championships, after Mathilde Gros in speed and Marie-Divine Kouamé in the 500m.
In this race of 200 laps (50 kilometers), the pair of track racers took the lead in the eighth of the twenty sprints, to close the proceedings with 65 points. The British (Ethan Hayter-Oliver Wood) and the Belgians (Fabio van den Bossche – Lindsay de Vylder) complete the podium, with 47 points and 43 points respectively.
France had not been world champion on the American (another name for Madison) since 2017. At the time, Morgan Kneisky had been crowned, alongside a certain … Benjamin Thomas already.
